On the morning of March 31, Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue officially became the new Chairman of Vietnam’s highest legislative body National Assembly to replace Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan who retired at her 66-year age.

Biography of Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue
Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue was born in 1957 in Nghi Xuan commune, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province.
He is a university professor with a Ph.D. in economics, and a doctoral student at the Economic University of Bratislava, the Republic of Slovakia.
He used to be a lecturer, then deputy dean, dean of the Accounting Department, and then vice-rector of Hanoi University of Finance and Accounting.
After that, he was appointed deputy auditor general, and later state auditor general.
At the 12th Congress in 2016, he was elected to the Politburo, the most powerful body of the regime.
Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue used to hold senior positions of Minister of Finance, Head of Central Economic Committee, and Deputy Prime Minister.
In February 2020, when Mr. Hoang Trung Hai was disciplined, the Politburo brought Mr. Hue back to be the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee up to now.
He is a member of the Politburo since 2016, a member of the Central Committee for the four consecutive tenures, and a member of the National Assembly since 2016.
